Dear Grandin Court Baptist Family,
I am currently a junior studying Business Analytics at William & Mary. I have deeply enjoyed my time at the College, and I’m equally excited and nervous that my senior year is approaching. On campus, I have been involved in the Baptist Collegiate Ministry since my freshman year, serving as a bible study leader and on the Coordination Team. This summer, I have been afforded a fantastic opportunity to work an internship in Ghana. I write to ask for your support as I prepare for this incredible experience.
My internship in Ghana will happen approximately May 28-July 23, 2024. During 2013-2020, Virginia Baptist churches raised over $1 million to purchase 100,000 mosquito nets for the families of NE Ghana. The emphasis was called More Than Nets. Our partner there, Emanuel Mustapha, oversaw his team and many volunteer teams from Virginia to go village to village in the areas around Yendi to distribute these nets to every woman of childbearing age. Over this time, the rate of malaria in the Yendi district dropped more than 40%. Pastor Mustapha’s network of church planters are providing more than nets, as they have planted over 1500 churches since 2005 in those villages that wanted one. Now, Pastor Mustapha believes God is calling them to extend their work into Togo, Burkina Faso, Mali, Benin, and Ivory Coast. With grants and donations pouring in, my internship will involve accounting for monies spent, coordinating logistics for teams traveling into these countries, and establishing business management procedures for office managers that follow me. I am excited about this rare opportunity to combine a career experience internship with my faith and compassion in a cross-cultural setting.
First and foremost, I would love for you to join my team through your prayer support. I believe prayer is essential to succeed this summer. I desire prayer supporters to pray for me at least weekly until I leave for Ghana, and then daily during my trip. I will begin communicating with you regularly to let you know of my preparations. Second, I also ask you to consider supporting me financially. The total cost of my trip is $2700, which includes flights, visas, logistical travel, and preparations such as immunizations. The BCM performs fund raisers so as to provide me at least $1000. I am trying to raise $1700. I need the help of generous supporters. Will you prayerfully consider supporting me financially?
