Every summer, around 50 Pi Kappa Phi men take on one of the most unforgettable adventures of their lives — a coast-to-coast cycling journey unlike anything else. With two routes launching from the West Coast and covering more than 8,000 combined miles, the Journey of Hope is more than just a physical challenge — it’s a mission to build relationships, raise awareness and celebrate the abilities of all people.
The Journey of Hope works with Masterpiece Alliance in Virginia by hosting an annual "Friendship Visit" programing day when the TransAmerica cycling team passes through the Roanoke Valley.
The cross-country cyclists stop their route to spend an evening holding community gatherings featuring ice cream, karaoke, and games at Grandin Court Baptist Church.
Cyclists and members of Masterpiece Alliance—an organization focused on creating community for individuals with intellectual disabilities—spend time hanging out, sharing meals, and building personal friendships.
The visit serves as a dedicated programming day during the final leg of the team's 4,000-mile trek to Washington, D.C., helping to advance the local mission of making the Roanoke region an epicenter of belonging.
Our August Generosity Box proceeds go toward supporting the Masterpiece Alliance and Journey of Hope ministries. Thank you for your generosity!
